NAVY RESCUE HELICOPTER TEAM at WORK

Military performers demonstrate an aerial rescue by helicopter at the El Centro Air Show.The “Longhorns” of Naval Air Station Fallon, a Navy Search and Rescue team are responsible for providing SAR capabilities to the sprawling Fallon Range Training Complex. The team now operates using the SH-60F helicopter and covers all of Northern Nevada and much of Northern California, including the Sierra Nevada mountains from Lake Tahoe to south of Yosemite National Park. The Longhorns will demonstrate the Huey’s capability for a Hospital Corpsman to repel to an injured victim, and retrieve both people on the rescue hoist while transitioning from a 50′ hover to forward flight.
